EWMI’s implementing partner, Dialogue Fiji, hosted a Training of Trainers workshop in June 2013. The objective of the training was to coordinate and lead group exercises based on locally derived case studies that are designed to further enhance dialogue facilitation skills and abilities of participants. The participants included government officials, inter-faith groups, community leaders, Dialogue Fiji staff and NGO workers. The workshop improved the capacity of participant to conduct dialogues throughout Fiji and strengthen Dialogue Fiji’s vision and mission. This was the second phase of the facilitators training on Facilitating Dialogue and Consensus Processes for Dialogue Fiji and was led by Sylvia McMechan. Ms. McMechan facilitated the first phases of ToT in 2010 and 2012. She will facilitate one additional ToT workshop in September at the completion of the project. Thirteen participants in total attended the TOT at the Novotel Suva in Lami Bay. The training was at an advanced level compared to Phase I (2012 training) and included elements on Program Design, Process Tools and Monitoring and Evaluation. Participants were exposed to a more in-depth understanding of the methodologies of the dialogue, the consensus process and were given informative supplementary reading to help them explore further after the workshop.
