EMWI has launched a new special initiative, Green Equity Asia, that works at the intersection of private equity investment, natural resources conservation and community empowerment in the dynamic growth economies of Asia. Our initial priority is the Lower Mekong sub-region, a region of breathtaking biodiversity, conservation innovation, and mounting investment. In Cambodia, for example, the Ministry of Environment has consolidated the government’s conservation lands – a full 40 percent of Cambodia’s land mass is now under the Ministry’s protected areas system. To sustainably conserve these new holdings, the Ministry is seeking to become a global leader in conservation innovation and sustainable financing mechanisms.
EWMI leverages collaborative management principles to empower local communities to share in the benefits of sustainable investment. This initiative hopes to grow the pipeline of community-supported conservation investments, benefiting both investors and the public."
