In a continuing effort to further develop commercial law and improve commercial law related practice in Georgia, EWMI’s Judicial Independence and Legal Empowerment Project funded an intensive instruction on international business transactions and contract drafting. The National Center for Commercial Law (NCCL) delivered the instruction to 31 law students from various Georgian law schools during its Second Annual Commercial Law Winter School held February 3-8. The main goal of the training week was to provide the students with knowledge and skills needed to understand and draft important commercial documents (e.g., bills of lading, sales contracts, and commercial letters of credit). The course had been developed and delivered to a different set of students at last year’s Winter School by Professor Amy Westbrook of Washburn University School of Law, Topeka, Kansas, USA. According to plan, this year, the three Free University professors who assisted Professor Westbrook in 2012, updated the course materials and taught the course without Professor Westbrook’s assistance.
